How are car colors chosen?

Does someone know how car colors are chosen?
I am ALWAYS black when playing solo when selecting the Heavy Rain expansion and I am always Yellow when not using the Heavy Rain. I assume that is ALWAYS the case?
I guess my question is, when additional players get added, how does it assign car colors? Is there a set order each time?

Car colors are chosen randomly. Premium players can chooose their favorite color(s), and always get one of these if they don'tconflict with other premium players' preferences, but it's the only thing that has an impact on colors

Would you mind telling me where to choose my car color?
I had no idea you could choose.

For premium players :
In your Profile, you can click on update profile and then on the "Tab" appearances you can choose 4 colors.
By example :
First Orange
if not possible violet
if not possible yellow
if not possible green

Go to your profile > Update your information > Appearance, then set your favorite colors.
In every game that support it, you will be assigned one of these colors if available.

I'm playing solo and I get purple car every time. It seems to have selected it based on the on the color I picked for my name earlier.

Be aware that color matching for premium players is not always perfect because, if I understand correctly, the mechanics of it are done at site level and the colors available are chosen at game level. ("Red" isn't a single color, it's a range and not two persons will put the limit between what is "red" and what is "not red" at exactly the same place. Is "salmon" a shade of "orange" or a shade of "pink" ? There ar 16.7M different RGB colors...)
Still, the devs for heat Hent the extra mile and talked with BGA devs to solve some early issues we had with color matching for this game.

Each game can define the mapping from color name to exact shade. If game 1 defines a light shade for red, and game 2 defines a darker shade for red, premium players who set their favorite color to red will get the light shade on game 1, and the darker shade for game 2.
If there are 2 or more premium players who want red, I'm not sure how BGA chooses which player gets red, but that's another story.
