Do We Need Poker? Performance vs Purpose

I do not want to trade precious boardgame bandwidth for the opportunity to be crowned BGA Arena Hold'em Champion, although I am intrigued by the idea.

There are a thousand other sites offering hold'em, why does a boardgame site need to do it? BGA often experiences lag and connection issues. Those things are now part of the experience. We do not need free hold'em to increase those things.

Please, get rid of it.

I actually like playing some low stake poker here against humans, and I wouldn't even know where else to play.

UltimateIy, i guess it can bring people to BGA?

Unless it is proven to use ton of bandwidth, I don't see the point of removing it. But maybe make it premium first if that's the case.

(Btw, so that you know, the interface is pretty bad compared to what one would expect, so I don't see this becoming a major game here. More of a filler. At least for me.)

Ho, and chess is also on BGA. Would you also think that should be removed??

Despite all the issues, i disagree with the idea of removing poker. I have been an active poker player before and even though i have stopped, it is still nice to play a casual game every now and then. It is like i definitely would not make an account on an actual poker site for it anymore, but in here, if the bugs and other stuff gets fixed it is definitely a worthy addition. We have a lot of other card games as well, and also classic boardgames such as Mills and Chess, despite dedicated sites exists. This is good for people who are curious about checking out a game and learn the rules if they may want to play on another site later, or if they just want to go back to some memories, even though i doubt it will grow a large, serious competitive scene on the site.

I will reply here as someone who has played millions of hands (both on- and offline) and works in the gambling industry for 10+ years now.

It is fine to have free holdem on a site like bga for the very recreational players. Anyone who has played at least a bit of online poker before will never really keep playing here as the design and everything is just atrocious.

Yes, leave it as a choice. I like to play with humans as many others are AI. Please keep it. It is a game and have fun!
