New arena season : no expansion ?

The expansion was officialy released on BGA just after the start of the past season. "Damn, we'll have to wait for the next season" I said to myself. "Fair enough, I wait"
New season just start and stay old school.
Goldenjuju, you dear tournament organisator, is very sad. Since I didnt compete for last arena season I am not a guru anymore. Kind of my fault maybe.
But I'd like to know if guru's made this choice on purpose, or by facility? Was the option only available? Ain't you happy to have some new cards renewing the game ? Or is it just a complot by Marius Brahms to stay on top with the cards he knows well... ;D
Well, this is just a bit of a reaction, to know if I am the only one to be sad or not.
And mayyyyyyyyyybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee if this makes an echoes, rules may chaaaaange??? #optimitic
Cheers all and dont hesitate to activate the expansion when creating tournaments !

You don't need to play Arena to be a guru. You just need to play a lot, Arena or not.

I agree with Juju here. Can't we update the arena season to include the expansion?

We're many surprised that it's not the case despite having the cards for quite some time now

Wow, surprised as well, I was looking forward for the new arena season to begin with the expansion.. I guess it will only be tournaments to explore a bit more about the new cards, unfortunately. I don't how the guru system even works, I've never been one but I feel it should be more active with channels to discuss the upcoming changes and ways to vote and see polls on the next season. And that somehow even non gurus player can see what's going on and not be surprised when the new season kicks off !

The expansion seems less balanced and more goofy than the base game. So maybe the gurus felt it was not « serious » enough for arena mode?
Those are the only two variants for this game though, so I’m sure at some point they’ll want to shake things up. Just have to wait a bit, I guess.

The suggestion to activate it is available for Gurus, let's see if they vote for it

If you're a Guru of this game, don't forget to vote

I'd like to continue this discussion now that we've become more familiar with the expansion.
So, I'm sure most of us find it a nice change that the current Arena season is using the expansion.
I've been wondering, after seeing how this has gone, is the expansion actually more luck based? When you look at the current Arena scores, they are very in line with the past seasons that didn't use the expansion. It's possible that since people are excited about the expansion there are more games being played, which may have the effect of Elos climbing over time. But I'm not sure that's the explanation.
I know people have said, in this thread and in tournament chats, that they find the expansion more chaotic and therefore more luck based, but does it actually stand up to scrutiny? I mean, while the new elements make the game more unpredictable in some ways, they also give more tools for players to outplay their opponents. So it seems to me the luck compensates itself. There is more randomness, but also more possibilities for better players to get the upper hand, so overall the luck factor isn't really different than the base game.
I'd love to hear what other players think about that.
