I don't understand why so many people like to type "gg" in the chat room after seeing the result; it's extremely disrespectful to the game. This is especially common in this game.
Disrespect for the opponent, and disrespect for the game.

I don’t understand why you think saying ‘good game’ was disrespectful. It’s just something like handshaking after a match and a lot of people said it no matter won or lost.

Now gg has become formulaic so some people will say it even when the game was one-sided which I personally avoid as it could be seen as sarcastic. But I think it's (almost) never actually meant sarcastically, it's just that it has become kind of equivalent to a "thanks for the game" (which is preferable when the game was indeed one-sided)

Its just an etiquette thing. In this game the convention has become to say "good game" after every game to mean "I appreciate you playing with me"

Its the same as saying "how are you?" in English as a greeting - in reality people are rarely actually asking that question - they are just saying hi - and the correct response is "not too bad - and you?".

Certainly disrespect doesnt come into it - its just you are interpretting gg in a literal sense - and others are using in in a nonliteral sense.

(Unless, as your title suggests, you mean folks saying gg before the end of the game. I can see how thats annoying - but if the game is very clearly over I have no issue with it)

Before the online game system officially declared the game over — in fact, while there were still a few steps left to play.

Supplementary Explanation:
In chess, apart from resigning or being checkmated, a player never explicitly declares victory or defeat during a game. Or if player do, what do you think?

I don't follow the connection between "gg" and "declare victory".

"gg" doesn't say who's the winner, it doesn't even say the game is finished. If it's a good game, it's a good game, regardless of who wins at the end.

I get what you're saying but sometimes it actually gives me a hint that they think they're about to win and in some instances I was able to prevent it or they were wrong.

Ah, that's just people that didn't get how many dominations they needed to win I guess.
It's explicit in the info box but people can be blind (too used for a requirement of 6 so it's doesn't even register when they see 7 or 8)
Or maybe they thought that YOU were about to win ?

I sometimes say GG if I suspect it's my final turn, and my opponent is about to win to win on their turn. I don't see that as disrepectful. I wouldn't do it in the assumption that I'm about to win though...because it's Innovation, and that confidence is likely to come back and bite me!
