The "tournament" tab on games used to display the current situation in the tournament that the game is in, if it's a tournament game. Then, a few months ago, the tournament tab functionality was seriously reduced. It became just a link to the tournament, making the user click through to the whole tournament page to get any info.

Now, the tournament tab is completely missing! (At least, it is missing from all my tournament games.) Any idea what's going on? That makes it a really long, tedious process to go and search for which tournament a particular game is part of and look up the settings and/or results.

Yes, I noticed this, previously the tournament tab would show the current standings of the tournament. But that was fairly recent; as I recall it had been implemented in early 2025 (or perhaps late 2024). Then about a month ago, we couldn't see the standings any more, just the name of the tournament with a link to it. This was noted in the Release Summaries as "The legacy tournament view in game UI has been replaced with a simple link to Tournaments on the mainsite.": https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... &start=100

Yes, I wonder whether this was deliberate or accidental. Now playing a tournament game is the same as it was a couple of years ago, where there's no tournament tab on the game page so to see the tournament page you first have to click the BGA logo in the upper-left corner of the game page, and then click the tournament name.

It is now a link to the tournament page. You have to click through. It probably was a performance issue.

You are seeing a tournament tab on your game pages? That's interesting. For me there's been no change since my earlier post today.

That's the point of this post. As of today, even that link is gone. You can check this by going into an active tournament game and looking for the link.

No. I suspect they didn't actually look for it before posting that. I just checked and it's no longer there.

I double checked, the link is completely gone now. Sorry about that, I thought you were complaining about the previous change which is only a few weeks old. I remember using it as recently as yesterday. It sounds like a mistake/bug?

I came to the forum to see if someone already reported this. We need info from the tournament to play well, at least a link to the tournament page.

An example: I am in a multiplayer elimination tournament and wanted to check how many players were knocked out to decide my strategy for the rest of the game. But now it's quite a workaround to find this because the tournament link disappeared.

In my opinion this would be the best solution:
Normal games: a tab with the ELO-ranking
Arena games: a tab with the Arena-ranking
Tournaments: a tab with the tournament structure (or eventually a link to the tournament page if this is needed to reduce space)

I assume the changes were made to reduce the amount of server capacity needed. But entirely removing the tournament removed tournament info that we need to play the tournament well (see my example from the multiplayer elimination tournament, but the same counts for for example Swiss tournaments).

Another example is a table where an opponent has 4 days negative on their timer and we might not finish in time because of them. Normally I could easily go to the tournament page to see how much time was left for us alltogether but now it's very difficult to find out in which tournament you are playing and to check how much time is left.

As I mentioned above, it's two clicks. I grant you it's annoying; I'd prefer being able to get there with one click. But I don't agree that two clicks is "very difficult".
