Little Rant

So I really like Nanatoridori. After playing it on BGA I even bought the game when I was in Tokyo and it’s been a hit whenever I play it IRL.

When I first discovered this game on BGA, I managed to get into the top 5 at one point, which was a proud moment. I sunk back from an ELO of 330+ down to 150. I managed to climb up to 300+ again. But after that I’ve been slowly losing game after game after game and I’m now almost back to 100 ELO.

What surprises me the most is that you basically have 1/3 of a chance to lose, with those odds you’d expect to have a better chance of winning (also explains how quickly I could rise to the top)

Anyone else had this happened to them? Or is it just me having bad luck and I should stop moaning?

I watched back your most recent game just now, and you made some different decisions to what I would have done in the same situation.

There is strong element of luck in the game, but you can definitely have a consistent edge if you're a good player.

I also wouldn't worry too much about ELO. *

I don’t really care about ELO tbh. It just bugs me lately I hardly can win get more than 2 wins in a row.

And you've reported this behavior, right?

Yes I reported it months ago. Maybe the BGA admins will only do something if multiple people report it

Hello, I've had a similar experience (and I also just bought the game in Tokyo 😄).
I think the card distribution algorithm isn't entirely neutral. I've observed that when you play only one game every 24 hours, the win rate is over 2/3, and that if you play more than one game a day, this rate drops rapidly. This isn't a criticism, just my empirical observations.
