Here is some valuable information that you may, or may not, already know: a pili-pili is a small but extremely hot chilli pepper. It is also called piri-piri or peri-peri and is known as “z’ozio” in Creole. It is used in most spicy cuisine and... Stop! STOP! STOOOOP!!! This is not a culinary website... Let’s start again.
 
Pili Pili is a trick-taking card game in which you have to guess how many tricks you will win... and try to stick to that guess! Like in most trick-taking games, the card with the highest value wins the trick. Once all the cards in hand have been played, if you fail to match your number of tricks, you receive Pilis as a penalty, one for every trick you missed or excedeed your bet by.
 
And it gets trickier: each round, you have a mission. Its effect is applied to your hand making it more complex, more savage or just more fun. These missions force you to adapt your strategy and the number of tricks you think you will win. But be careful: accumulate too many pilis, and the game is lost.

"z'ozio" (pronounced z'oiseau in French) is the specific term you'll hear in the West Indies (Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and French Guiana). It means bird because the peppers ressemble birds.

Thanks for explaining that one word and its origin. I would not have guessed its etymology, but it makes perfect sense now.

My post was more to point out to the original author that simply writing "in Creole" is inaccurate, since there are many creole languages and they are not related. You need to specify which Creole language. I'll also add now that lumping together all creole languages as one "Creole" is also culturally insensitive. It's akin to saying something is the word "in Asian" or "in Native American" -- there is not just one Asian language or one Native American language, just like there isn't one creole language.

I linked the Wikipedia article so the author (and other people) could maybe learn that there's more to "creole" than just one culture / language.

Loving this game and so addictive, while waiting for a bus!

A fun family game that we played in person over Christmas and I am loving playing with friends worldwide on BGA. Thanks for a great adaption to the digital world!
