Hi. In addition to Go Fish and Connect 4, what are some games appropriate for a young child added as a 2nd player in the hot seat? TIA

Takenokolor is a big hit with my kids (6 and 9). Hey That's My Fish is a good kids game. Mountain Goats would probably go ok too.

Not spot it.

Yes to My First Castle Panic on large (non-mobile) screen.

I’ve done a fairly simple filter here, on BGG (Board Game Geek) of games with BGA implementations that BGG considers children’s games. Note of course that children come in a wide variety of ages, and I don’t know what “young” means here, so I am by no means endorsing all these games, but hopefully some of them fit the bill!

Baby Dinosaur Rescue and Crazy Eights jumped out at me as two possibilities. Good luck!

I don't know if Group qualifies as a hot seat game, but if you're including Connect 4, maybe it does. In any case, it's a very simple game.

In Group, players add stones of their own color to a hexagonal board until one of them forms a group of a certain size. For example, on a size 5 board (61 cells), you have to form a group of 9 friendly stones.

There is an anti-blob rule which the youngest children might have trouble with, but if they play on BGA, legal moves are highlighted.

I have listed here https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24788 a lot of games I think appropriate for children of an age of 6-8 years with
- no need to read words (but in some cases you have to know numbers)
- short set of rules
- not too challenging in strategy
- gameplay taking less than 30 minutes

I hope you can find something there which fits your needs.
