Is the turn sequence different between PC and iOS?

I think the gear selection - confirmation - combination of clicks and touches is somehow different between the two.

I have to do more definitive research, however it seems every time I switch between the two systems, it feels different and confusing every time. How can that be?

If it's different, I don't think it is wildly different. Because the board is so large, BGA may have you confirm certain actions. The constant need to zoom in and out and scroll x and y can lead to inadvertent touches. Hence the "confirmation" That may be leading you to believe you have to work a little harder. It's somewhat common for BGA to tweek the mobile version to avoid misplays on larger boards. I suggest fiddling with your preferences in the option tab in game. You'll find your happy zone.
