there are some tourneys which lasts too long due to too many players and using the round robin system.

i think tourneys needs a max player count so it doesnt last too long which creates the game fatigue.

There are many poorly configured tournaments, but BGA does not make tournaments. Premium users do. The only weapon against badly structured tournaments is to not enter them. Unfortunately, BGA provides no way to give feedback about the tournament structure, other than entering temporarily so you can post in the tournament chat, saying why it's a bad structure, then withdrawing. But some may find that obnoxious.

Even if you don’t agree with it, it’s good that the possibility exists, right? The people who don’t like it just won’t subscribe to those tournaments.

Why not just message the tournament host? As long as you word it politely, that you would be interested in playing with different settings and don't just tell them their settings suck, I don't see a problem.

That's not much good for a current tournament as I believe once someone registers you can no longer adjust settings. I'm not sure what would happen if you were the only one to register, gave feedback and then withdrew, but I think that'd be a pretty rare case anyway. Sure the creator can setup a new tournament with better settings (or you can set one up yourself if you are premium), but that doesn't impact the existing tournament with bad settings - it still exists, people ultimately register and have a bad time.

Can they cancel the tournament outright if people have registered? “Sorry folks, go over there and sign up for the new tournament!”

You might be confused here, or else I am. A round-robin tournament has a maximum of 15 entrants, and it is not easy to configure a round-robin tournament that will last "years".

I don't think so, but I'm not sure on that one. My understanding is that once a tournament has participants, it's basically locked off from the creator being able to do anything further with it though (but maybe someone who actually runs tournaments can confirm).

You can cancel a tournament as long as it hasn't begun. Once I opened a tournament for registration with the wrong settings. I apologized in the tournament chat and let everyone know I was canceling it. Then I directly invited everyone who had already registered for the old one to the corrected one after I opened it.
