Personnaly, i prefer the original Forest Shuffle, the cards are prettier and there isn't a major game-changing mechanism in Dartmoor to keep me interresting in both games...

I play both, about the same number of games of each. I don't have a strong preference for either, the differences are a bit interesting either way, but I do have a mild preference for the original with both expansions, so I guess I disagree with you - I don't think dartmoor is better. Maybe that answers your question; there probably isn't a widespread preference for dartmoor over the original.

Actually, what I really prefer is the original with both expansions but _without removing any cards_ from the deck, but we sadly don't have that option on BGA :(

I think Dartmoor is more ballanced has the variety in the one game witout expansions but I think the majority of people will prefer the lighter, brighter colour scheme of the original (the artwork is pretty much identical) and that compounded with the fact that they have to learn some new strategies and memorise a whole new set of cards is probably while many hesitate to jump ships. Anyone who plays knows that until you become familiar with all the cards it is difficult to experiment with different strategies. Personally I would always recommend Dartmoor before the original.
