Hello friends of BGA!
We know that in the world of board games, a good "player aid" can make all the difference. Today, we are handing you a brand-new one: we are officially rolling out a massive upgrade to our Tournament Pages!

Whether you’re a Grandmaster or just here for a casual "friendly" game of Uno (we all know there is no such thing), here is what is changing:

Finally, Mobile-Friendly!
No more zooming in like you are trying to read the tiny flavor text on a Magic: The Gathering card. The tournament pages now (should) scale perfectly to your phone or tablet. Play from your couch, your bed, or while waiting for your opponent to finish their 20-minute turn.

"Rulebook" Not Required: Guided Creation
Creating a tournament used to feel like learning a heavy Eurogame without a tutorial. Not anymore! We have added guided steps and helpful hints to walk you through the setup. It is faster, smoother, and much harder to "misread the rules."

Precision Filtering (The "Power Search")
Looking for a very specific setup? Maybe a "Turn-based, 3-player, Splendor tournament for players in the 200–300 ELO range"?
  • On Game Pages: Instantly find tournaments for a specific game you love.
  • The Big List: Use our new filters on the tournament list page to pinpoint exactly the type of competition you are craving.

Better Support for Our "Game Masters" (Organizers)
We have upgraded the tools for tournament organizers:
  • Up Front Messaging: Important organizer announcements are now displayed front-and-center.
  • Organizer Profiles: Want to see what else a specific organizer is hosting? You can now view all their public events in one place.

A Note on the "First Playthrough"
This is a major change. Think of it like a 2.0 Edition of your favorite game. While we’ve done a lot of testing, some small bugs might still be lurking.
Wait, where's the "Old Version" button? Like a legacy game, we’ve made some permanent changes to the board. There is no "back to the old pages" switch. We need to move forward to keep BGA modern and fast (and we know it's not there yet ^^). We know change can be surprising, but we’re confident this is the best path for the community!
Known "Work-in-Progress": The Tournament States/Ongoing Tables view still isn't 100% polished yet. We’ve been iterating on this for such a long time (it's our own personal Campaign Mode), and we will keep polishing it with your help.

Keep it Constructive!
We want your feedback! If you find a bug or have a suggestion, please let us know.
And as a friendly reminder: keep it civil. We love constructive criticism, but inappropriate messages will be moderated. Let’s keep the "table-flipping" to a minimum so we can focus on making the site better for everyone.
Thanks for being part of the BGA family. Now, go grab your meeples and sign up for a tournament!

There's no option to invite players to the tournament. Tiebreakers can't be seen anywhere in the results. Please, get them back!

This is far less user friendly for those setting up tournaments. I used to be able to just tab through everything and easilly amend, now i physically have to click it all. So much more time consuming. Why cant we invite players via a link anymore? Thats a needed feature for those under 100 ELO.

Best part of 6 years since the last decent update to tournaments and as someone that sets up many tournaments this has just made it worse :(

Didnt you employ someone around 3 years ago specifically to work on tournaments? I understand why you want to push Arena but ultimately thats just a mediocre way to play compared to tournaments if any time would be put in to new features in this area.

Constructive criticism - This is weaker now for setting up tournaments and less clear (what the hell is an encounter?!) Players per match was far clearer, who thought that would be a good idea? Stop pushing Arena and focus on improving tournaments.

At first. I thought it was better. Because all I saw was some improvements and I had to go to work. Now that I have had time to really look it over. Not the greatest change. For tourney makers. For players. You need to make changes quickly or lose a lot of tourney players. Please listen to the feedback and make changes really soon. You can check out my thread in forums if you want more feedback. The good. The my games in progress. And more info about each specific tourney. The bad. Too much is gone. Other have said what is missing. And more clicks to do the same thing as we used to do. Great ready for lots of good feedback. Please listen.

Yeah, so the new UI for playing in a round-robin tournament is actively useless, given the lack of tiebreaker data in standings and the inability to efficiently view matches. Did you test this UI with anyone who actually uses it?

I've already cancelled my renewing Premium membership, but I think it'd be courteous of you to refund the existing 28 days left of this month given that you took a working product and broke it.

I would be awesome if we could set different game options for different stages of the tournament. For example, i'm imagining a Heat tournament where the beginning stages are single races, and then the final stage is a 4-race championship game. Maybe i missed it but it looks like this is still not possible, you can only set the entire tournament to be single races or championships, regardless of the format.

The previous display was not an issue, the issue was the options available. Setting up a staggered round robin tournament is still a missing must have.

Would it be possible to give Tournament organisers the "power" to remove players from a multiple round tournament when that player signs up to a tournament that may last for a number of months, but then never joins a game, or disappears shortly after it starts. They can repeatedly hold up a really good tournament as the games don't end for days or even weeks!

A feature people have been crying out for years for. Just think of how great this would be, but year after year ignored by BGA
