Rules clarification: Show all discarded cards?

When buying treasure cards, the rules say: "Discard the number of cards from your hand equal to the cost shown on the chosen Market Stall. Put the discarded cards faceup in the discard pile with the Treasure you want to Curse on top." On BGA the discarded cards are all shown. However, both rules videos I saw explicitly state you only have to show the topmost card, you may hide the others for tactical reasons.
I think this is a significant difference. I am not sure how to correctly interpret the rules. BGG hasn't anything about it either. Can anyone clarify this?

Hi, thanks for asking.
I would in principle suggest to follow the rules i.e. show the cards; but there is a not a big difference in the game if you only show the top one...it would in theory stop people counting all the cards, but in practice not many people will do that anyway!

I bet people on BGA will do, especially if they play turnbased games and thus are allowed to take notes

Hi! I'm one of the developers here!
Alladinsdad is the designer of the game, so he holds a lot of sway.
We (BGA developers) have actually discussed this internally a few times, but we haven't come to a consensus on what to do. It would be helpful if you filed a bug about this, so we can track input from others on it.

Maybe show a summary of the contents of the discard pile, since it's public information anyway, and a determined player could count?
