Expert Tournaments

Hello,

I would be interested in participating in a turn-based tournament with a low Elo limit (for example, 500+ Elo), since BGA’s arena matchmaking system is not ideal.

I may have overlooked something, but it seems that no tournament of this type is scheduled in the near future.

Do you know if such a tournament might start soon?
Otherwise, would you be interested if I created one?

P.S. OK, I have access to Discord now. I’m going to try to figure out how it works. 🙂

I believe one such tournament started last week. You're certainly welcome to create your own tournament to suit your needs. I'm fairly certain if "500+ ELO" is your only restriction you'll attract a fair share of competitors as multiple individuals have preferred to face only strong players since they complained about running into weaker players on Arena.

You are right, even though Abtsein’s monthly tournament is starting soon, there might be enough volunteers for a second expert tournament, since the first one is already completely full.

I created my tournament on this page:
https://bga.li/tournament/533542

It’s a group-stage format followed by a knockout phase. I set the maximum number of players at 32 and the minimum at 16. So if I understand the format correctly, with 32 players, those eliminated in the group stage would play three matches, while the winner and the runner-up would play up to seven matches.

Feel free to sign up. :) I’ve set the registration deadline for March 9, 2026.

(Edit : Link corrected, thanks Andrei3009)

Something's wrong with the link, it leads to the flip 7 tournament.

I think this is correct link: https://bga.li/tournament/533542
