how many players are ranked? I wanna know how cool is it to be top 12 lol

After clicking the next page button on the rankings more often than I thought it would take, I found that there are 1260 players with a ranking of at least 100. I don't know how to convert that into coolness.

What are your tips? It's hard to believe how horrible I am at this game. You'd think it'd be some what random.
