Selfish players refusing to abandon the game with a bug

I am completely blown away how selfish people there are in BGA. I am just playing Kingdom Builder with three other players. It’s my last turn and I have a land type that doesn’t fit there anymore so I cannot do my mandatory action. The game is literally stuck. According to rules I should get a new land type card but this doesn’t work like that. I reported the bug and found out that this is an ongoing issue that has been reported since 2020 but hasn’t been fixed. I explained the issue in the chat to the other players and asked for guidance what to do. One answered something irrelevant and others were silent. I tried two times to abandon the game but they refused. So now basically time is just going and the game is stuck. I reported all these players but don’t know if it has any effect. Hard to just understand these ppl who just want to bully and cause harm because this platform enables it.

Are you sure they are even all aware of the situation and understood the issue? My guess would be that some of them might not even have seen and/or understood your message. Pretty unfortunate bug though

You can't finish your turn and very likely you will finally get kicked and loose karma due to that bug. I suggest you contact the support
https://boardgamearena.com/support about this, referring to karma. Since the developer has affirmed the bug (
https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=25665) it's very likely they will save or reset your karma. If enough people do complain about this, BGA might even ask the developer to finally fix this!

I've had this happen. Nothing I can do except red-thumb (personal reasons) that player so I don't have to deal with that again. In my opinion, there is no excuse for not paying attention to the chat box, especially if the timer has run out.

The chat box is only visible at the table. Since it's Turn-Based, nothing leads you to that table when it's not your turn. Some playrs have several tables running at the same time. I imagine most of them do not regularly check the tables where it's not their turn.
A request for abandon btw does not make it your turn and you won't even see there is that request unless you manually navigate to that table.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it does.
OK, I tested it, and it kind of does. It doesn't show as a table waiting for a turn, but if you're using "next game" to go through your games, it will take you to the game that has an abandon requested.

It's possible the opponents don''t even speak English.

oh that's good news. Might still not reach everyone though because when only 1 player refuses, the request is canceled.

This could be true but if someone chats to me in a different language, I use Google translate so I can read it. I realize some of these things are difficult but nevertheless, it is frustrating when a player ignores your pleas for abandoning a game due to BGA glitches. Regardless, it is unfortunate and I still will not play with that player again, as penalties that I do not deserve frustrate me.
BGA contributes to this problem by not fixing these issues and/or at least recognizing when they occur and waiving the penalties. They need a better system for this. As I have said before, the "Karma" system is supposed to measure and encourage player harmony and fair play. But many of the policies on this website do the opposite.

It has to take them to the table because they abandoned it twice.
