I was playing in the Ark Nova 2 of 4 elimination. Our game timed out [after the end had been triggered],but also when I believe the players were in net time credit.Only one player had run ot of time, but the others were all in time credit with more time remaining than he was in debit.Should the game have timed out ?

Others are saying the same thing.

Some tournaments have a cap on the total game time played, like 15 days for example, so even if everyone has time remaining the game will still automatically end. Check the tournament parameters to find out.

Thanks. That's not good, though. The time per player should be set so that if everyone stays within their time limit, you don't time out. Otherwise games get unnecessarily decided on time insted of game result, which spoils the tournament.

(sample bellow, not your actual tournament)
The tournament round is 8 days long, so that's 2 days per player.
If, at the end of thoses 8 days, there is still no victor, the game is ended so that the tournament can keep going. it may be one player went 4 days into negative and every other player still have 1 day in bank.
But to have a game decided on time you need to have at least one player timed out.

Confused, now. In the example that you just gave,if one player had been half a day over time, but the others had each had 8 hours left, the game wouldn't have timed out.In the game I was in that timed out, one player was about 7 hours over, but the others had over two days between them.So then if the parameters had been set sensibly,as they were in the example you just gave,it shouldn't have timed out.

To use your event as an exemple, the game can't last more than 1 week.
you have 7 days in which only 12 hours count : 7*12 = 84
each player was allocated 1 day and 18h x 4 : 168 hours.
Seems like the organiser overlooked things a bit

.

What is the tournament you were participating in? Note there is an open bug that was introduced with the new tournament release where the time is actually incorrect for tournaments without 24hr playing time. See bug

The table number was 820617799.The tournament name was something like 2 of 4.One player was nearly five hours over time, the others had roughly 85 hours left between them. ! I opened a thread in the tournaments discussion, and the message I got back is that there is no direct link between time alloted to players and time alloted for each game/round.So the game can time out even if everybody stays within their time limit.
Part of that is related to sleeping hours and the variation in their usage. But I'd still have hoped for some sort of tie-in.

That tournament
https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=530125 is definitely getting hit by bug
https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=209956. For example, players are being given 42hrs for a game - which would translate to 3.5 days each given 12hr playing period. However, the tournament setting is for 1.75 days each.
Looks like almost all the games in the first round ended in a timeout. That is probably going to happen for the rest of the rounds too. Maybe you want to ask tournament participants to upvote the bug so it is fixed.
