Everything About Bluff King
Introduction
Bluff King is a 2–8 player psychological card game built around one simple mechanic: play cards face-down and declare their value — truthfully or not. Everyone else has to decide: are you bluffing? The first player to empty their hand wins — and becomes the Bluff King!
Background
This style of gameplay has deep roots worldwide. In the English-speaking world, it's known as Cheat (also called BS or I Doubt It) — a classic that's been played at kitchen tables and dorm rooms for generations. In China, the same spirit lives on in games commonly known as "Talking Nonsense" or "Bluffing" — virtually everyone has played some version of it, whether around a mahjong table or at a party.
Bluff King shares the same soul as all of these — bluffing, mind games, reading people — but with tighter rules, faster pacing, and richer strategic depth. Simply put: it's more fun.
Rules Overview
One-line summary: Take turns playing cards face-down and declaring their value. Others can challenge or follow. First to empty their hand becomes the Bluff King!

Rules Overview
One-line summary: Take turns playing cards face-down and declaring their value. Others can challenge or follow. First to empty their hand becomes the Bluff King!
Core flow:
- The active player plays cards face-down and declares "X cards of rank Y" — true or false
- Others may Call Bluff — flip the cards to verify. Liars take the whole pile; honest players make the challenger take it
- If no one challenges, others may Follow — play their own cards face-down, claiming the same rank
- If everyone passes, the pile is discarded and the last player to play starts a new round
Game Options
Deck Preset
- Micro (18 cards): JQKA + Jokers — lightning fast, great for beginners
- Mini (30 cards): 2–8 + Jokers — medium pace, ideal for 2–4 players
- Standard (54 cards): Full deck — the classic experience
- Double (108 cards): Two full decks — epic sessions for 5–8 players
- Immediately on your turn (default): On your turn, you can directly choose: Call Bluff / Add Cards / Pass. Faster and more direct pacing.
- Only after no one calls bluff: The table first resolves challenge declarations; only if no one challenges does adding cards begin. Clearer information flow, steadier mind games.
- Honesty is a weapon — Build trust with honest plays, then strike with a well-timed bluff when it counts
- Read your opponents — Watch for hesitation, patterns, and tells in how people play and challenge
- Target the leader — The player closest to winning is everyone's target; challenge them to slow them down
- Follow wisely — The bigger the pile, the higher the stakes if your challenge fails; know when to hold back
- Save your Jokers — Wild cards can bail you out at the worst moment; don't waste them early
- Time your challenges — Challenging too often just fills your own hand; wait for the moment you're most confident
If you enjoy mind games, catching liars, or being the liar yourself — Bluff King is for you. Whether you're a seasoned Cheat player, a Liar's Dice enthusiast, or a complete newcomer, there's something here for everyone.
