This game so unfair in BGA

If a player steals a card from you, it's almost always either a mermaid or a seahorse. In 500+ games of Sea, Salt & Pepper, this almost always happens. I don't understand how and why the system so often chooses the mermaid card over the other player. The only fair option would be to shuffle your hand and let your opponent choose a specific card. I'm either completely disappointed by this "adaptation," or I'm cursed.

As in every game that has some random event on BGA you will find at least one thread on how BGA is unfair and someone is cheating.

It is 100% true that everyone's opponent always gets the best cards while they get the worst ones. Every time. Man, I had this other player agree with me, we played each other and it was awful. Somehow I kept getting the worst of draws, and they got so lucky. They said the same thing happened to them, they got the worst draws and I got so lucky. Now that we've both confirmed it was 200% hacked, we know it has to be 300% true.

I agree it seems like you always get the mermaid if your opponent has one. And if that’s the case it mights seem unfair.
On the other hand, when playing this game IRL you could also assume where the most likely place is for a mermaid in your opponent’s hand. At the same time your opponent is able to influence your decision IRL.

When I started playing on BGA, I felt the same. But now I'm convinced the RNG is not fair.
I just won 3 games in a row with 4 mermaids. If someone accused me of cheating, I would understand — either I’m cheating or I’m extremely lucky.

That's not necessarily due to luck.
If you (i.e., your opponents) lose because your opponent gets four mermaids, it could be your own fault for letting the round go on so long. If you're not holding any mermaids yourself, then you're taking a risk letting the round continue. Especially in two player.
