Heart and Skull -- Paid Dev Gig

Hello,

I am in need of an experienced freelance developer to help me bring my upcoming game Heart and Skull to BGA.

Like the subject line says, this is a paid gig. Because of that, I am looking to work with a developer who has successfully developed a minimum of two games here on BGA, with a preference for working with someone who has built out at least one card game.

The license has been approved here and you can see my forthcoming game here: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/468 ... -sepulchre.
Yes, this is a major overhaul of a previous game called Sepulchre. For some insight and reference, you can see how that game was developed on Tabletopia here: https://tabletopia.com/games/sepulchre-a-grave-game
The physical mechanics of the game require layering of cards, dealing of cards, shuffling, etc.

Heart and Skull is slated to crowdfund in September of 2026 and factory prototypes are being sent out reviewers in the next few weeks while I begin attending conventions, etc. I would very much like to have my game up and running for people to learn and explore by July.

If you are interested, please provide links to the games you have developed here, along with at least one reference from a game designer you worked with. Please also provide your rates for development.

Files, rules, and other assets will only be provided once there is an agreement.

Thanks!

That's a weird situation. You probably would like to see a quote from a developer but no developer can quote it unless they see a rulebook. But you are going to provide a rulebook only after you agree with a specific developer. This is kind of a "chicken and egg" situation.
I would say the rulebook is a pre-requesite for making a quote, usually it works this way (I am kind of an experienced one)

Yes, speaking from experience where the rules are not finalised before you start: It does not go well.

You need to have everything up front, so you both know what you're agreeing to.

Fair point -- not trying to be difficult about this. I can understand the need for sharing the rules prior to agreement.
I was coming more from a place of sharing all the game assets only to be ghosted, which from what I've gathered, happens a fair amount. If you have experience developing games and provide links, I'm more than happy to provide the information you need to make a decision on whether or not to take the gig. I probably should have just stated "serious inquiries only" and left it at that.
Thanks for the feedback, this is a new process for me.
