I don't know if it's because of the cultural difference with the West because I'm Asian, but in the Eastern Go game, it's a basic courtesy that neither the winner nor the loser of the game express joy or anger.
I don't know if you're saying "gg" because you had fun after the game or if you're saying it's a good game because you won, but I don't see it as a cool sportsmanship.

I agree with you, when somebody types "gg" it's realy sounds like taunt, when you lose

To me it's like a handshake after a real life game - meaning "it was pleasant playing with you".

GG means good game. I type gg when i enjoyed a game, no matter if i win or lose. It's not League of Legends xd

if you prefer just say TY. it could be more apropriate.

Saying nothing is not very polite. When you go play physical boardgame .. do you play the whoel game without saying anything ?

you know the online games taunt would be "GG easy" or something in that way right? "good game" or "well played" (gg wp) is just the "digital handshake" after an online match
