Did someone finish „Remember when…“

I am curious. Did someone ever finish the game „Remember when…“?
The game looks fun and I tried it multiple times a longer time ago, but: I couldn‘t finish it once, because there was always a bug, which froze the game.
I just thought of the game and wanted to try it again, but looking at some bug reports it seems like the bug is still there. Maybe that‘s why not even one game is open.

Did someone ever finish it? And why is the bug, years after the release, still there? :(

The original developer, Brederic, has not logged on to BGA in over a year. The person listed as "maintaining" the game, aartb, does not appear to have touched the game since 2025-08-13. The last file change for the game was 2025-11-19. There is a third person listed as an admin on the project, but I don't know their role.

A key thing to understand is that these are not BGA employees. Almost all games are developed by non-employees, and many of the developers are volunteers. Even the developers who get paid are on contract for that project, and they aren't indentured in perpetuity to keep maintaining the game. If you've ever done any software development, you'll know that going back to look at something you wrote yourself is a chore, even after just a few months away from it, especially if it isn't well commented, which it often isn't if you don't have an employer enforcing standards on you. Now think of what it's like going into something someone else wrote that is sparsely commented and trying to make sense of it.

So if your question is why hasn't someone at BGA fixed the bug years after the release, it's because there's no one at BGA whose job it is to do that, and it is a heavy lift for a volunteer to do it.

The much more important question is how this game got out of alpha in the first place.

I think that is something that BGA staff should be held accountable for. If a game got a full release, then it should work except for minor issues. If the game doesn't work at all, roll it back to alpha.

i played it a couple of times a few years back (~8 years ago) and it worked well. i enjoyed it a lot! so I'm happy it got out of alpha back then. it probably broke later.

Yeah I played this game multiple times a few years back.
I don't ever remember any serious problems.

The BGA framework is being constantly updated and refined, old games break sometimes.

I have finished a couple. I think what we had to resort to was all players agreeing to not do or cause whatever it is that triggers the bug.
