Stone Age ought to be abandoned. Not only are there slight rule changes with less players, but there's a problem with one person going first two rounds in a row. (It still has the player who is gone go first, which of course just dumps it to the next player, who then gets to go first again on the next round.) I imagine that same problem exists in any game that does a ABC, BCA, CAB turn order.
Can't Stop continues. Perudo seems not to. I believe Yahtzee stops IIRC.
I don't know that anyone knows how every single game works. I think all games should require the players to state if they'd like to continue after a player leaves - make that their next turn. If any one person doesn't want to continue, it shouldn't - that's not the game they agreed to. If everyone wants to continue, that's certainly fine. There's no ELO and everyone needs to know that. (Some people won't care, but others might.) This ought to be default for all but a very few games. While we can suggest a group abandonment, when it's turn based, people don't always see that cause it's not their turn.

The fact that Yahtzee would stop, which is not the least bit affected by someone leaving, and that Stone Age continues, when the game will simply not be correct, makes me wonder if it has anything to do with who developed it.

I don't know a list of games. However, there are some pieces of information to remember about ALL games in which someone leaves/is expelled:
- No ELO will be changed in any player except the one that left, who only receives the leave penalty.
- Any player may initiate a vote to abandon the game collectively, with no more leave penalties.
- Specific code must be written to handle the player who left. Reading through the development forums, when a player has left the game, their status goes into Zombie. If no Zombie code is written, the game ends.
So, yes, it is based on who developed it as to if the game continues or not. As to the game being broken (due to rule changes with number of players and going first multiple times in a row), that doesn't affect ELO -- the game only continues for the joy of playing.

There is no joy of playing it the thing is messed up because of someone leaving. Obviously that would depend on the person and the game. The Stone Age felt really messed up to me. And some games can be less tense with less people, which bothers some people.
That Stone Age was one of my first games, before I knew about the group-abandon. There's two problems with that. One is that if anyone votes no, I'm assuming it doesn't happen, so those who want to leave are stuck with it. (That's why doing a "group-stay" seems a better default.) I've not seen that happen and don't know if anyone would do that. For a turn-based, a bigger problem is that people don't see it when they're not on turn, so it sits there. Eventually someone else is going to go zombie but this all just takes longer. (I also think people misunderstand it - I saw a guy vote to abandon and then seemed to assume he didn't need to take his turn in the meantime.)
But then... this is one of those issues that affects turn-based in a way it wouldn't affect real-time, and much of the turn-based has just been carried over in the same way and it doesn't always work.

In any game in which someone else abandons you are free to quit with no penalty. You don't need to propose that it be a group abandon, you can simply leave.

Someone mentioned that before, and I even tried it and it worked, but totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.
