Post mortem analysis, and weekly tournaments

I have two suggestions. My apologies if they have already been mentioned.
  • It would be fantastic if players were allowed to analyze games together after they were finished. In other words, they could look at variations which did not happen in the game. As things stand now, players are individually allowed to replay finished games, but they cannot make moves which did not occur in the game. There isn't even an easy way to back up one or more moves. I have to back up all the way to the beginning and type in the number of the move I want to look at. In order to improve my play, I wish to examine my errors and try to understand what I could have done better. At least, put a backup button on the screen when replaying a game. This would be a tremendous improvement IMO.

A weekly schedule of automatically run real time tournaments might help to increase the site's popularity. If too few sign up, then the tournament could be cancelled. Automatic pairing according to the Swiss system would be my preference. If just four players sign up, they might play three rounds "round robin" style. A relatively fast time control and rounds which start as soon as all games in the previous round have completed should result in tournaments which are finished in less than an hour to 90 minutes.
Thanks very much for your time and attention.

I am a cash paying, club member here. Happy to support this website and community.

About the only game that I play is Hive. For this very reason, my favorite place to play is BoardSpace.net. They have an excellent review system there. It is very well designed for teaching and study. IMO, an implementation here, similar to what is there, would greatly enhance the user experience here.

I bump this with emphasis.

The automatic replay "feature" is irritating to me. When I click on a previous move, I don't want to see an animation of the moves played from that point on. I want to look at that position. At the very least, please disable the auto replay, or allow the user to disable it.

Yes, the replay system needs a re-work, if you pass the a move, for back to them you need to replay all again.

And about tournaments, all BGA memberships can create tournaments.
