Playing with a friend

I get this error every time I try to start a Memoir 44 game with a friend. "You cannot change game configuration of a turn-based table after any opponents have joined the table." The problem is I'm not changing anything. I setup the game, he joins, I click start game, and then I get the error.

Bump. Any ideas? Pretty frustrating, seems like its something simple we're missing.

I don't know how to fix your issue, but a work around is to start it as a real-time game with the options you want, then immediately convert it to a turn-based game. I can't remember what the default turn-based timer is when you convert from a real-time game, but it's better than not getting to play at all.

Do you need to click something to start a game? I know it's possible to click that button, but I think it's a relic from the old lobby (which is still in use), and games start anyway regardless of whether that button is clicked. Prior to having a full table, it's a button to open your table so others can join - however, since this isn't present in the new lobby, this happens anyway. But still, if you try to navigate away from the page in the old lobby having not clicked that button (while waiting for other players to join), it warns you that you haven't opened your table and don't you want to do that before you go (even though it isn't necessary anymore).

In short, are you sure the game just isn't running anyway? Beyond this observation, I have no other thoughts as I've never encountered something like this. I suspect most people haven't, so that's why you're not getting many responses here.

Where do you setup the game? How do you set it up?
My recommendation:
Go to https://boardgamearena.com/lobby (or click on "PLAY NOW" on top)
Set the middle one of three big buttons to REAL-TIME or TURN-BASED, as you prefer, and the other two to SIMPLE GAME and MANUAL
Choose Memoir 44 from the list of your favorite games, or type its name in the "Find a game" box.
Click on the "Play now!" button next to the game button, if it's there, and on "Create".
Change the settings for the game to your liking. You can even change the speed to make it real-time or turn-based, independently from what you chose in the big button.
Click on the "Invite a friend" button, or write their name in the text field.

This workaround fixed it, thanks!
