CANCEL MOVE OPTION

hI

I'm new here, is there an option to take back a move I made?

This RESET MOVE option is something I saw on the Yucata game website

Of course this would not apply to moves that reveal a card or some other information

I found here an UNDO feature but that only applies for limited cases when a move consists of a few stages

thanks

david

Once your move has been shown to the other players, it can't be taken back.

You must be the gamerdave I know (of).

There's been lots of threads on this topic. IIRC, they are planning to work on this but it's going to take some time.

I'm assuming you're referring to turn-based, in which case other players seeing it is not really relevant. But the games basically still work like they did for real-time and were not really changed much other than the extra time allowance. Don't expect it to be like Yucata. And there is still a time limit - even the "unlimited" option has some kind of limit.

is there a definitive list of games that have an undo posted somewhere? ... I play exclusively turn-based, on a tablet - meaning I have to scroll the screen and not risk pressing some interface elements that will be considered a 'move'.

So, yes, no undo is essentially a deal-breaker for me, and rather than join a game only to find there is a high risk to screw things up, kingmaking etc, and wasting the other players time, I would rather know ahead of times which game to stay away from on that basis and wait until that is implemented.

Thanks for any pointer.

the UNDO feature here only works for moves that have a few stages (e.g. "sell goods" ,"how many goods to sell?" which goods to sell? etc.) once the move is completed

there is no RESET and no FINISH move button to finalize

The RESET option is very important when learning a new game when you tend to make very stupid moves,

so if you can RESET you can explore various move options and learn the game more quickly

Well, it depends on the game, hence my request for a list.

The answer was hidden in that post. As an overall thing, there is no undo feature here. (Though IIRC correctly they are going to be working on one.)

It is not that it exists in some games and not in other games. The feature simply does not exist, as far as I'm aware. So no, there's no list of games. (Even if it exists in some game that I'm unaware of, there's no list.)

The only thing there is, which is not technically an "undo" is that some turns that happen in certain steps can pause and have you confirm certain things, and these may be things which you can change. I don't know a lot of games here, but I can use an example from Stone Age. If I'm placing meeples on the wood, or I'm telling it to add tools to my dice roll, it makes me confirm it because it doesn't know when I'm done. So I can re-click on a tool to take it away again (I think), but at some point I have to confirm when I'm done. This is not an undo feature - it only exists because the game can't know when I'm done in a case like this, so I'm merely finalizing the move.

To compare, if I place a meeple on the village somewhere, it doesn't need me to confirm that I'm done, so once I click, I'm automatically done and my turn is over - no undo. And that's the way nearly everything is that I have seen.

So there's kind of a difference between having to confirm certain types of moves, and having an actual Undo button.

The Cancel Move option exist in Tash-Kalar game. It's very interesting to understand the game. A very useful tool ! It will be interesting to develop this option in other games !

Probably cause that's a new game, and perhaps that's being added to the new ones?

I hope so and it will be nice to have this option in other games. With Tash-Kalar, we can see that it is possible to do it ;)
