In my opinion, there is an error in the rules provided by BGA for First Giants: the game ends when the last “exposure marker” is taken, and that triggers the end of the game—okay—but the player who goes next to finish the turn shouldn't be able to make an exposure, since there are no more “exposure markers” left, yet BGA allows them to do so.

The rules says

The end of the game is triggered when a player takes the last Set token from the supply or when the deck is empty after a player refills a Dig Site. Take all remaining Set tokens from the box and add them to the supply. Play continues until all players have had an equal number
of turns, at which point the game ends; then add up your scores.

I don't understand this part of the rules... What exactly happens once a player has taken the last exposure marker and the final round is announced... There are 14 of them with two players, for example... So what do we do?

Once the last exposure marker is taken , it triggers the end game.

During this end game, there are an infinite amount of markers for the remaining players.

This is to avoid the first player gaining too much of an advantage , equal number of turns is a common game mechanic

Make sure to check who have the first player marker, it will help you take decisions

I just played a game where I didn’t get my last turn. He took the last marker but started the game. I thought if I didn’t start I still had a chance to finish ? I’ve played other games and gotten to finish.

Are you sure? In https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=869234004 you did the action that triggered the game end: You displayed 1 fossil and got the last set token (which triggers the game end). Your opponent was staring player, so nobody got another turn.
