Rules clarification please

So I'm reading the rules, but I'm confused on the lion and octopus. Yes they both present alternative win conditions (three unique pairs or seven unique animals), but the rules don't clarify if the lion and octopus counts as part of or separate from (or either or) their win conditions (IE if I have the octopus, do I need three unique pairs in addition to the octopus, does the octopus needs to be paired up as one of the three unique pairs, or is it my choice based on which one is more advantageous to me. The lion is more egregious as it isn't clarified if the lion counts as one of the seven unique animals, or if you need seven unique animals in addition to the lion)?

Yes, they can count as part of their own win conditions.

The lion card counts as 1 of 7 colors needed to win.
Two octopus cards count as 1 of the 3 pairs needed to win. The octopus does not have to be in one of the 3 pairs, though.

I've created a tutorial to explain the rules. I hope it helps you! 😊
