Breeding cave

Hi,

Had a game where I had 2 sheep and 2 wild boar, but only space to breed one wild boar.

As I had the breeding cave the game gave me 2 food, and the log showed breeding sheep and boar. But I had to discard one of the sheep as I could not store it.

From searching the consensus seems to be that in this case I should only have got 1 food as to breed you really need space to place the extra animal.

Had a look and there does not seem to be a bug report for this one, so wanted to double check here that people agree that this is a bug before submitting one.

That sounds like a bug to me. From the rulebook page 10:

"Sub-phase 3: The Breeding phase
If you have at least 2 Farm animals of the same type, you get exactly
1 additional (baby) animal of that type – but only if the new animal can be
accommodated on your Home board."

So if you don't have space for the baby, the animals don't actually breed and hence the breeding cave should should not have given you food from the sheeps.

I'm guessing the digital adoptation "gives" you the sheep because in some cases, you can choose which animal type you want to breed.

Yeah for sure I could have rearranged by home board and taken the sheep instead of the boar if I had wanted to, so it makes sense that it gives you both and makes you discard.

It needs to recognise that something was discarded before giving out the food though.

Anyway thanks for sanity checking, I submitted a bug.
