Several times I lost an all-in hand and all my chips and left the game but was penalized for "quitting the game" , Is there a special way to leave, it does not happen every time?? Thank you

In fact, part of the rules of poker allow you leave the table and come back anytime, with your chips being blinded out when you miss a hand. You have to add that into BGA or you are not following the rules of poker. If someone times out, their hand is simply folded. It also would allow bathroom breaks for the longer games. You should look at the WSOP app and get some pointers there. It would also be good to be able to click check or fold in advance of your turn. WSOP has check/fold - Check - Call any. You shouldn't have to wait for everyone else before you are allowed to indicate you want to fold your hand. At least make this an option - especially for friendly games.

Did you look at the replay? Are you sure you had actually lost all chips before leaving? I saw at least one game where it looked like you timed out while still in the game.

There only one game in the last few weeks where the table was abandoned and RICH41 was the loser (0 pts) … https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=863152465

Move 83: RICH41 is out of time, so HWGUY skips his/her turn
Move 84: RICH41 has quit the game and is going to lose this game whatever happens.

So looking at the game state at move 82, right before this, RICH41 had gone all in but won the secondary pot and ended up with 63 chips. Then RICH41 timed out and HWGUY booted RICH41 out. And, well, that’s it. That’s why you got the penalty.

Sometimes it happens that the message telling you about the penalty is delayed and I’ve seen other complaints where it looked like the penalty was for a different game, but it wasn’t. It was for this one. (There’s probably a bug about this…)

ok, thank you, I really do not care about ELO, it is the % drop in reputation I do not like. It just happened that I lost all in and left the game, and after searching for another game clicked on the game I was just in so the only way to get back out again was to "quit". Is that a penalty?

As BarnardsStar said, in the only poker game where you lost karma recently, according to the replay it was because you timed out (with chips still left) and was skipped by another player. If that's not the game, it is hard to say what could have happened unless you can find the table id.

Which game?

https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=864638339
RICH41 wins the primary pot with a pair of 9s and gets 16
16 is moved from the pot to RICH41's stock
...
RICH41 is now the active player
Move 126 : 19:13:04
RICH41 is out of time, so RobGrothe skips his/her turn

Where did you bust?

As Jellby says, you lost the reputation for timing out and getting kicked out of this game. I’ll just add that you had 16 chips left at the time; you were not busted.

Why do you keep saying you were penalized for going bust when it’s not the case?
