That's strange. For me everyone shows as a bright white.

Things seem to be buggy lately. They are probably in the process of changing something about the fonts. In the meantime, you could look at the colours preferences in your profile settings. I think there's the two shades of orange/yellow you posted.

Edit: I tried changing mine but apparently now that's a Premium feature. Might have something to do with it.

The change also broke some games, like Gaia Project. Once players' colors change, the game breaks and won't load again.

I wish they'd introduce these changes gradually or test better first.

Given that they seem to have been using AI to help write the news posts (e.g. descriptions hallucinated gameplay mechanics), I wonder if they are using AI for some of the code too.

And AI or not, they clearly aren't properly QC'ing things before release. Edge cases I can understand, but there have been way too many serious bugs and questionable UX introduced as of late as we all know.

And if it's a matter of limited funds / staff, they can always slow down any non-emergency core BGA site changes until sufficiently tested.

Fully acknowledging that I am as susceptible to the recency bias as anyone else, this does appear to be happening with greater frequency lately.

Although this particular one may relate to something we aren't supposed to discuss outside of Fight Club. Oops. I mentioned Fight Club.

I noticed the player name thing. It's OK in some cases, but in others makes names VERY hard to read, especially if the panel has a dark background (like a player who has passed for the round).

Also, I could be completely imagining this, but I feel like the wood background of the forum is brighter than it used to be.

This is the kind of thing that messes with your mind. I can't tell if it's always been that way and I just now noticed it, or if it recently changed. Like that logo on the top level page of the forum? Was that there last week? If it has been around for months then there's no reason it should be standing out to me, but for some reason I'm noticing it today.

I agree, I think the top bar used to be different. Now it's a very tall, empty bar except for the logo and the search field. It almost looks like a CSS accident.

Because the forum is members-only now, I can't easily check the wayback machine, but I did confirm that way back (ha ha) in 2020 the wood background seemed darker for the forum.

For all I know, a CSS error is causing the brighter background too.
