Unfair driving

So why do players block other players out of a corner, how is this considered fair and acceptable in a competitive environment? I'm not talking about taking the best slot, but about just rolling a 1st gear with your second driver when you clearly don't have to. Shouldn't be allowed in a competitive environment. Maybe it would just be better to have arena not be in teams of two cars to avoid this shameful nonsense

More and more people doing it... hopefully they will disappear next season with back to one car... shame...

Very unfair indeed !!! And yet no real solution, except a "one car / one driver" race. It seems that the element of solutions existing are giving results that are condidered worst that the fact of blocking itself...
Just beware when you see a car with 6+ brakes in the configuration !
I hate that kind of behaviour

One possible solution would be to allow cars that have no valid route when in a corner because of blocking to not follow the arrows at the cost of tyre wear.

In the original rule, the driver in front of the blocked car should loose 1 car body point

Or in the spirit of the theme and semi real world consequences, players who do this (intentionally braking and does not move a single space in consecutive rounds) should get penalized and flagged as track hazard, moving their car to the side of the track the turn they did this on (2nd turn not moving) and be treated just like a spin out from their position which they can assume on their next turn, starting on gear 1.
P.s. In my current game I have a player doing this and arguing this is not against the rules of the game so it is fair play, regardless of what a lame move it is. my argument is that this exploit in the rules as it is programmed is against the spirit of the design of the game and doesn’t make sense in context of formula racing. Almost wish these are consider cheats and get the players banned that are doing it, but a rule change is preferable.

In a 2 lap race I took part in a player did this to eliminate a car then allowed themselves to be lapped by continuing to select 1st gear. Presumably with the intention of doing it again to another racer. I have suggested, without success, to the game designer for BGA that lapped cars should be eliminated.

Yes, but you won't take à turn on him: he will block you as you try it.
My opinion is that the only solution is to ban those players definitively from the arena and tournaments.

According to rules, the blocking car should launch a collision dice.
This should be implemented in BGA version.
By the way (it happens the same in Rallyman GT, for example, and is easier in that game to block), the 2nd car knows that placing in that spot could trigger a block. And should play attention expecially if it hasn't shift and/or brakes to manage the situation. In my opinion is strategy: blocker take himself a risk (high risk) doing that (collision and spend brakes and gear, damag for strong braking...). If he don't gets a 1 on dice, he could loose positions anyway for failing the block.
This is strategy as well stopping on the first spot of the pit lane when opponents can't brake and they are forced to continue on track. As well a turn full of cars when you can't stop because you follow and there's no place to stop, it's strategy of the first cars to not leave to the follower space...
As well continuing on crash with a car with 1 of body (PT) even when there's no reason to stop near that damaged car. But nobody is arguing on that "demolition derby" mode, and Formula D is not a demolition derby based/inspired game.
EDIT:
There are a lot of games that give chance to block or force other player to bad/risky moves (GoGoa: choose the one direction dice that opponent strictly needs, Carcassonne: blocking a player meeple by placing a tile that leaves a "unsolvable" spot, K2: occupiying opponent's tent while is descending from top or forcing a risk token by playing lower cards...)
