Unlucky 7?

Shouldt the effect of the unlucky 7 still apply when stealing this card in this case when i played i stole it but keept all other cards? 
The rule says:
"These Special Number cards have unique effects and can be stolen or swapped. Special Number cards with actions affect you when you get them and stop affecting you once they leave your possession."
If you steal the Unlucky 7, I would say, that you met the condition "when you get them", so I would say, that the effect will apply on you.
