Are there any statistics on how large the first player advantage is in a two-player game? While the second player starts with one extra food, that surely doesn't compensate for the advantage of getting first to contested trophies, and the fact that the starting player gets a full turn extra if it is the second player that claims the last trophy. It would be nice to see how big the advantage for the first player is in games with capable players, say above 400 elo.
