Hi. We have just played this game for the first time.
We were wondering, once you have chosen and paid for an instrument under Repair, shouldn't there be an option for it to go under a patron? The blue button isn't there and the card just goes away once you have placed any secondary tokens etc, so it isn't being placed and therefore patrons are not being completed this way?
Is the only way to complete a patron with instruments that have been through the rough and finishing phases?

From the rules:

"Each patron has a primary requirement which can only be fulfilled by making an instrument of the matching family type. Some patrons also have secondary requirements which are more flexible and can be fulfilled with a crafted instrument, suitable performance, or repair."
