code was xxx, why was there a verifier on highest number?

In table #891133611, I was confused because verifier B asked which number was higher than the others. I got a positive answer when I put in a code with purple as the highest, i.e. purple was confirmed as higher than the rest.

there was also a verifier on repetition of the number -> 124/114/111. I deduced the right answer would have to be a double, not a triple (since there is a number higher than the rest). I also knew there were more evens than odd. However, this created ambiguity. The answer could be 223 or 445. I gambled on one of them but I was very surprised to see the answer was a triple digit code.

How is this possible if purple was marked as the highest number? How should you interpret that verifier then?

In the first round you learn:

Purple must be even
Purple is larger than the others
There are two or three even numbers (so blue and yellow are not both odd)

In the second round you learn:

At least two numbers are repeated (exactly two, blue and yellow, because purple must be larger, and they must even then)

At this point the only possible solution is 224

Now we jump to an alternate universe, because you tried 334, not 223, and the answer was indeed 224, not a triple digit code :roll:

Your mistake seems to be that "more even than odd" does not mean there's any odd. Three even numbers is still more even than odd.
