ONE GAME A DAY: THE SUMMER CALENDAR IS BACK!

Summer has arrived on BGA, and, apparently, in some parts of the real world too.

For many of you, that means holidays, sunshine, cold drinks and confidently bringing a board game outside before discovering what wind does to cards.
For our friends in the Southern Hemisphere: sorry about the summer theme. Please consider this our Winter Calendar With Suspiciously Sunny Graphics.

Once again, we have prepared enough games to keep you busy for the entire month of August:

31 days. 31 games. One new release every day.

Why are we doing this?

Because many excellent games have been patiently waiting for their official release, and our release cupboard is now dangerously full.
Rather than opening the doors and letting everything fall on us at once, we decided to turn it into an event.

Starting on August 1st, a new game will be officially released on Board Game Arena every day.
And by “new,” we mean officially released for the first time.

Yes, some of you may already have spotted a few of them in Alpha or Beta. You saw nothing. Please look directly at this conveniently placed meeple.

How does it work?

Every day, a new treasure chest will appear in the Summer Calendar on the BGA homepage.

- Click on the chest.
- The chest opens.
- A game appears.

Technology is wonderful.

The calendar will be displayed below the usual news and releases, and on the right side of the homepage when using a desktop screen.

And there are trophies!

Opening a chest is already its own reward. But apparently we have been told that “a sense of discovery” cannot be displayed next to your username.

So, by visiting the calendar and discovering the newly released game each day, you will also progress towards exclusive event achievements for your BGA account.

They are unique. They are beautiful. They may be cute. They may stare into your soul. And you'll have to earn them.

Collecting every achievement requires you to participate throughout the whole event.

Can you miss one day and still collect them all? No.

Can you blame us afterwards? You can certainly try.

These achievements will only be available during this event, so remember to open the calendar regularly (even when you have absolutely no idea what day it is anymore). That is how you know the holidays are going well.

We will update this post regularly throughout August, so you can follow every game revealed so far.

Enjoy your holidays if you have some, take care of yourself and the people around you, and remember to use sunscreen. Your screen may have dark mode; your skin does not.

And if you are spending the summer indoors, consider taking BGA outside for a while. It works on smartphones and tablets, although we cannot guarantee that the sun will improve your ELO.

Have a wonderful August, and enjoy the discoveries!

With love,
The BGA Team

Will there be a quick link to this "calendar" mentioned on the main page?

Any idea whether it will be clickable on mobile? I've found in the past that the treasure chests are often desktop only.

I would prefer BGA to spend more time on fixing bugs in stead of releasing so many new games.

Isn't all of the game development and maintenance done by volunteers, not by BGA itself?

I don't disagree that there a handful of games with corner case bugs that are irksome, but the vast majority haven't had any issues.

"Can you blame us afterwards? You can certainly try." imho says a lot about how much they care.
