Karmapenalty in a game with friends

Ok, as a beginner, I had to find my way here.

My first warning I got, when I didn't quite get the interface in forest shuffle, on my smartphone in the very first game I played (it appears this site is hard to navigate on a smartphone).

Then my second penalty when I found out that the fast paced game was not really for me. It is a tad bit too fast at times and I took more time to think, resulting in a penalty during the endgame. -20 karma. Ok, I understand that one. Other people should not be victim of my exploration through the system.

And then another 20 hit for leaving a game with a friend, who I explicitely said that we had to be quick about it cause I was going off to bed. We weren't quick enough (mostly he though) so I quit before the end. We both knew this could happen, he is my friend. Yet I still got my karmahit and I don't think that one is fair. If you are playing with friends it should be without penalties. People can unfriend if they think their game is too slow or too often broken off. Now I'm endlessly playing just to get my Karma back up from my -40 penalty. It is lame.

If you didn't want penalties for leaving, then play in friends mode.

You could have played in "friendly mode" (no penalties), or asked to abandon the game instead of quitting (no penalties), or switched to turn-based.

Thank you!!! This I didn't know! I will tell my friend that there is a non-penalty option as well. I'm not (yet) a premium member, so I'm not the one inviting.

Learn to play most everything in turn based. Rarely will you get a penalty. Even if you are really going to play in real time. That gives you a chance to have distractions, or minor emergencies and not have to worry about a timer when thinking.
