Elo's Calculus

I have absolutely no idea how someone could think this is a good idea, but I play a niche game, and I get 0 elo because I have 10 wins in 15 games against a player. The result is that I have to block this player, and since the game is niche, I run out of players to play, and ultimately just cycle through accounts and create new ones. Anyway, I'm sure this has been discussed plenty, but it's very, very stupid.

Rather than block, just lose one time.

To clarify, the Elo reduction is based on how many consecutive wins you have against that player in the last X days (I think X is 60 but don't quote me on that). So yes, if you lose once, it will be reset and you'll get full Elo next game.
Is it a good system? No. Nobody who isn't being paid by BGA thinks it's a good idea. Sorry you're running into this.

Not defending the current system, but there needs to be something automated in place, or else you get the situation in another recent thread where someone has a 113 game winning streak against the same person that would have to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis (although it's hard to believe there's no cooperation happening there).

I wasn’t aware this system was that controversial.
If it’s really that hard to find different players, the Elos probably don’t go very high in that game anyway. It seems the issue sorts itself out.

The system has been pretty heavily disliked ever since it came out.

You would be mistaken. There are games that can make 700s even under such circumstances.

Well, sure, I agree with that. I just don't think the current approach really works.
