Board Game Arena

Just looking for someone to educate me on this. I believe SE4X turn order is a start player (high bidder or incumbent) and then clockwise around the table. I thought this clockwise order was reflected on the positions of the players in the list from top to bottom, but I just saw that the bottom player went for movement and now the turn has moved up to the player above them to do their movement. Can anyone clarify? Have I been wrong this entire time?
