Agricultural Fertilizers

I feel like we need to discuss how this works. We should not discuss if it is weak or very weak, but we should avoid making cards like this because of the following:
Agricultural Fertilizers
Each time after you turn at least 2 unused spaces into used spaces in one action, you get an additional "Sow" action.

It triggers if you do the following:
- Build fences on at least 2 spaces
- Plow at least 3 fields at once
- Build 2 rooms
- Build 2 stables

It does not trigger when you do the following:
- Plow 2 fields (apparently the additional field is an extra action)
- Build a room and a stable

I think this is a very very bad designed card and will only confuse people (like me). If for example you plow an extra field with 'Plow Hero' (...plow 1 additional field for 1 food.) it doesn't trigger because the 'additional field' is an extra action. So according to the rules you don't plow 2 fields, but you plow 1 field, you stop your action, you trigger plow hero and plow another field. I don't know if there are any cards that trigger on 'whenever you plow at least 1 field', but these should trigger twice if I understand correctly?

Easy solution: Change the wording 'one action' to 'one turn'. It will maybe be a playable card and will stop confusing people. Also being able to split up your turn on the plow action space feels wrong, there is no and/or to split your turn into multiple actions. My 2 cents.

Pretty sure this was intented to be "during a single turn" did you get a ruling about the card somewhere stating this is not in case the fact? If so can you link it?

If not I would ask for a ruling in the Agricola forums on BGG, there is offical Lookout Spiele people who ansker rules questions there. If you get them to make a ruling I am sure you can file a bug report and it will get taken care of =)

I don't know how to link something, but I reported it on BGA as a bug. I got the response that the card works as intended. I saw I am not the first to report this as a bug. I don't know how I can get a ruling about the card.

That was already explained in the first answer: Agricola (revised edition) forum on boardgamegeek.com.

For what it's worth, if you did get the publisher to agree to change the wording from "action" to turn, I would be very happy to implement :) .

There are in fact cases where we have changed the wording of cards, such as:

- The card wording was confusing people (multiple bug reports) and we changed the wording to make the card clearer without changing what the card actually does (eg Seed Servant, Small Trader).
- The publisher gave a ruling that the wording should be changed, for whatever reason (errata, etc).
- The game being implemented online means different wording is necessary for the card to make sense (eg because different spaces are adjacent to each other in the online version to the physical game).

But in general, we can't and don't change the actual effects of cards, even when I personally would prefer it (see the weak banlist discussion thread to get a flavour of my views on various cards...). Which is why the best I could do in this case was clarifying wording in a Card Ruling. If you can think of better wording for the card text itself (which doesn't make it too long), I would consider it.

Agricultural Fertilizers is currently both weak and confusing, and "turn" would be much simpler. It's just not what the card says, and "turn" and "action" are definitely different concepts (you can and often do take multiple actions on your turn).

(As an aside, the concept of "turn" itself also regularly confuses people - for example, people expecting cards like Stable Tree or Farmyard Manure to proc when they build stables with Stable Planner. But for Agricultural Fertilizers, I don't think that would be a problem.)
