How to use the colour clue flamb

Hello everyone,

in a recent 3 player avalanche game we lost because, someone of us got the colour clue flamb and had to clue someone. Noone of us had a useful card, and we both had a multicolor card in our hand, so they couldn't give an empty clue. We didn't have a finished colour (+multi) either, which we could have used as an obvious trash clue

So in the end, they clued me some card (which would've been useful later on), and I bombed, because I played it straight away.

My question is: what's the procedure in these situations? As the clue giver and as the clue receiver.

IMO they did the best they could, and probably I should've waited after getting a flamb clue, seeing that they couldn't clue empty or obvious trash.

I find that that almost never happens with the number clue flamb, but with the colour clue in avalanche, it's more common.

Thanks

It depends on your token count and the overall game context. If cards haven’t been playing for a few turns, the clue‑receiver is naturally more cautious. Most players bomb unless they’ve seen this situation before, especially in 2‑player games.

Experienced players, however, recognize when a clue is forced and adjust by stalling or discarding a card that could have been saved but wasn’t. Taking extra time before giving the flamboyant clue also helps signal that something unusual or dangerous is happening.
