Is it OK to assign roles to players?

In last night's game #915201435, a question came up:

Would it be considered cheating if, to reduce chances of clashes, players were assigned roles beforehand e.g. one always types synonyms, one antonyms, one phrases with the word (minus the word, of course) and one a two-word definition?

Thanks!

The only people for whom it matters if it's considered cheating are the players in that game. You're supposed to be having fun, so if you're having fun by colluding to mitigate the effects of one of the design elements of the game that introduces randomness and risk and feel that winning that way gives you just as much satisfaction, who's stopping you?
