Why do people do this?

I had to kickout another player from a turn based game they Timed-out from. The irony is this is a table they set up.
This has happen too many times, why do people set up games and not committing to them? It's ridiculous.

Life happens bud.
Maybe their house burned down.
Maybe a family member died.
I will point out, you didn't HAVE to kick them.
People time out of my games all the time, but I usually have 30+ games going, so it's not like I'm really waiting on any single one of them.

You are assuming going out of time is something people do intentionally or something.
Kicking out on the other hand is never not intentional, and I don’t know why you say you had to do it. If it bothers you so much that they aren’t committing to the game, then why are you abandoning it yourself.

Timeouts happen too often (it can't all be situations beyond someone's control) and it's annoying and I have developed a zero tolerance for it.

I'm not going to commit to a game if that person does not want to be there, especially if it's their table. Timeouts happen too often and I don't see why they should be mollycoddled.

Even if it was within a person's control, it's not like they are doing it on purpose. That would be like saying that when people are late to an event because they were too lazy or too distracted, they were doing it on purpose. People are not machines.

If they hadn't been making a move for a month I could see your point, but your post doesn't show any indication that you tried to see what their intentions were. One can criticize them for being late, but you can also be criticized for giving up easily on a game you claim to care about.

People just don't take the time settings seriously, as you can see in this thread

Look, it's your right to kick them if you want.
But this post just seethes with pointless whining. This is an online board game website. How in the world does someone going over time offend you so much that you just have to make a post about it to complain? Just kick them, get the dub and move on if that's what you want, bro. It's not that hard.
Life is way too short for you to get all in a tizzy over something like this.

Call it first world problems if you wish, but I rather take my time seriously and I despise timewasters.

You said it was a turn-based game. So how are they wasting your time? If they don’t go then it just doesn’t become your turn, right?
