Adjustment of starting time and maximum on clock

The 5min maximum of time does not fit all games. I feel there should be adjustments to some games.
For example if you set Through the Ages to normal speed you have 5:00 +5:00/turn. On slow speed you have 5:00 + 6:40/turn. If your time maximum is 5min there's completely no difference if you play on normal or on slow speed because after 5min your clock goes negative no matter what setting you play.
On the other hand - you won't want to wait 5min for the first turn in Dragonheart or another quick game.
So I think the time in the beginning of the game and the maximum on the clock should get adjusted in 2 ways: By game and also by speed-setting.
Starting time and maximum on clock do not necessarily have to be the same.
