How do you leave table of abandoned game?

One of my usual gaming partners here is new to BGA. He's had a situation ensue for which I do not know the solution nor could I find one in the FAQs.
In the event that BGA is telling you that there is an abandoned game and you are still 'around the table' but where you may have deleted the initial email that offered you a chance to join the game, how do you remedy that situation?
