Regarding the notation of anti-playing situation

Post by bousi »

The rule was added to that “Blocking play by retaining all pearl and gold tokens is an anti-playing practice",
How many turns does it take for the player to lose the game?

I assume this is a BGA-specific rule,
But it is not clearly stated on the game's rules page.

You'll be ask to buy a card on the third consecutive turn you retain all gold and pearls.
If you don't, your opponent then has the opportunity to win instantly.

Would it be possible to adjust the rule, not to start the countdown untill both players hold 10 gems and the board has been refreshed?

1. I makes no sense to spend a pearl before you collect 10 gems if your opponent has 10, because your opponent can't do anything during that time anyway. It's always better to aquire up to 10 gems first.

2. Even if you have 10 gems you might wanna force your opponent to refresh the board first to gain 1 privilige before refresh.

After both player have 10 gems and board has been refreshed, blocking player can't justify waiting with explanation that he wants to aquire more scrolls, because blocked player can force him to refresh the board assuming he makes rights moves (it's always the same position of 5 gems).

Shouldn't this be a tie rather than a win?

Check out the other post about prison scenario and the official reply. Theoretically there will be no rule regarding it. However the solution introduced to prevent infinite games acts a rule rn, because it changes the way the game is played by player utilizing blocking strategy to win (he has much less time to take advantage of his control).
