Re: Be aware that games get closed unexpectedly after 40 days

Thanks. I wish I had known that.
I have saved the other 'long' game we are playing.

Re: Add advance notice before auto-abandoning games

It was 24 days since the last activity - not 40 days. I took the 40 days from the previous answer. I don't know how long the inactivity timeout is. From previous threads and discussions, I thought it's around 4 hours for real-time and 2 months for turn-based. But I don't think that's clearly stated...

Be aware that games get closed unexpectedly after 40 days

This isn't a rant - I'll do that elsewhere :). This is for anyone who likes to play friendly, turn-based over a long period of time. You need to be aware that the game might get abandoned by the system. This is what happened to the turn-based game I was play with my son. We started the game on 1/Mar...

Re: Add advance notice before auto-abandoning games

What do you mean "incorrectly"? They're abandoned after 40 days of inactivity, and that's intended. Perhaps the "no time limit" name is not quite accurate, but that's a different matter. I agree there should be a warning or a visible description of this behaviour, though. I rece...

Re: Add advance notice before auto-abandoning games

I took a further look at what caused this. In Email preferences there is this option: Send me an email when a player is running out of time: Yes This was set to Yes for me - which must be the default. Every day for months I have been receiving the same automated EMail from BGA: You are expected on t...

Thanks for replying.
I took your advice and edited the original post to change it into a suggestion.

Add advance notice before auto-abandoning games

table=637390706 The main reason I am a premium member of this site is to play friendly turn based games of Unconditional Surrender with my son. This is a really long game and the way we play, it can take us a year to finish one game as we drop in and out. This year we have 2 games in progress, and b...

Re: What's next?

A long time ago, I made a PC Windows version of Hitlers War.

Last update was 2013 - I don't know if it is still playable on modern windows, but it is here if you want to have a look:

EDIT: It still works on my Windows 10 PC.

Re: Rules

As these are big changes, have you considered cloning the game and implementing the errata in the new copy? This would eliminate impact on the existing version. It would split the player base though and any new bugs found in the old version would have to be fixed in both. Just throwing it out there.

Oh I don't doubt that :D.
I was trying to illustrate (and doing a bad job of it) that there are people on zero points who are active players.
