Re: Change dice rolling algorithm

True, but given that it already exists as an expansion to the game, it seems possible to get that approval. I looked at that link. They have a 36-card deck with instructions to reshuffle after 31 cards are dealt. That would be terrible for the game especially online where it's easier to track the c...

Re: Stage Two Single Elimination Game Showing as "To Be Played" When It Should Have Started Two Days Ago

Has this issue been resolved? Perhaps in both of the tournament tables mentioned in this thread, the games in question were on the same server (maybe server #10). You can see the server number in the full URL of the table. Then, it might have just been one server had a bit of an issue which the BGA ...

Re: Tied game, who gets to progress?

Thanks. ChatGPT pointed me to this thread from 2017, which includes the "just subtract 1300" formula: https://forum.boardgamearena.com/viewtopic.php?t=10974 (also https://boardgamearena.com/news?id=319 ). ChatGPT noted that if someone's Elo under the old system was, say, 1380, then their E...

Re: Tied game, who gets to progress?

Ah, very interesting! How are you accessing the JSON?

If I understand correctly, then there must be a simple formula to convert from ancient Elo to modern Elo. Are you able to say what the formula is?

Re: Why no invisible status showing one offline?

11.3.1 During play the players are forbidden to use any notes, sources of information or advice , or analyse any game on another chessboard. [italics mine] That seems wonky. I mean, what is the player supposed to do? The player is supposed to call for a ruling before taking further action in the ga...

Re: Why no invisible status showing one offline?

If in a real life Chess tournament between grandmasters, a person in the crowd shouted a winning move to one of the players, and the player had not realized they could make that move and then proceeded to win thanks to the advice, what would happen? Re: New Tournament Pages are here: Better, Faster, and Mobile-Friendly!

After the changes, in the tournament with playing hours, the time per player is no longer reduced, so the tournament ends up lasting twice as long. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=209956 (currently 31 net upvotes) https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=213493 (currently 1 net upvote) https://boardgame...

Re: Seniority rule

I'm pretty sure that only booted ties for multi-player elimination use the seniority rule - as in, if a tournament is setup with 4p games where top 2 advance, and 1 player is booted from a game, the other three "tie" for first. The booted player is eliminated, along with the user with the...
