Re: Change to thew arena format.

I would say: "players" who favor a 1-point mode for competitive playing are absolutely casual Backgammon players who are not really into this game at all. If you really love this game and love the competition, it should be minimum 5 point games. What makes the games a lil longer here is th...

Re: Randomize, slow game and critical faults

Completely agree, Backgammon definitely needs a GUI upgrade, the server needs to be exchanged from which it is running, and the algorithm also is horrible. Lately there have been lets say about 10-12 situations in different games where I had the strong feelilng of a certain roll to come, and in thos...

Re: Why is game so slow?

yeah, it could be a LOT better... during every 15 point match I also have about 4-8 sync errors where I have to refresh the page. But in exchange for the slow server connections you get incredibly lots of doubles, especially when youre the underrated player. You dont see those crazy rolls that often...

Re: Change to thew arena format.

Arena is meant to be a competitive mode. That requires skill differences between players to make a noticeable difference in the outcome. Backgammon is already very heavily luck based. So 1-point matches simply aren't suitable for the arena format. Ideally you'd want 5-point minimum to get a good sh...

Re: how to report unsportsmanlike behaviour in a tournament?

There are quite many ways how this behaviour is disturbing: 1) as mentioned it is very unsportsmanlike 2) the other player gets my timer running every single time 3) every time i receive a pop-up where I have to deny that offer... if that gets done again and again, it might happen to accidentially h...

how to report unsportsmanlike behaviour in a tournament?

Hello, I am currently playing a tournament game of backgammon against somebody. The match goes until 15 points and the current score is 4:2. The game that is currently running has me holding a 6-prime in my endzone, 2 stones of my opponent have been beaten, he has only 2 spots occupied in his endzon...

Re: Change to thew arena format.

Thank you for your arrogant lecture, the second lecture in this thread... The statistical value used by Bordgamearena in recent years is per game, not per match. That is a fact. I will end the conversation here. That´s a really non-friendly post and an absolute no go, like that a discussion on a to...

Re: Change to thew arena format.

But we don't have to discuss all that in detail. Those that like the changes will now play more Arena games. Those that dislike the changes will now play less Arena games. This thread is important to show all the different opinions and will hopefully guide the gurus decisions. We don't have to conv...

Re: Change to thew arena format.

\ I totally disagree with you. The arena mode with 1pt games only did not make much sense to me, as 1 pt games are much more luck involved than 3 pt games. Still I played it, as I love competition. With 3 pts to be reached a lot more tactical themes come into play, and the doubling cube is a main p...
